The stairway to fitness...
"The progress over the last week has been remarkable", says Pete's fitness guru, Hused Iymeh Phatas. "In the last week, he has covered over 200 kilometres between 40 pubs and a couple of gallons of stout. Kerala needs to sit up and stock up to the exploits of a legend like him. This week, our mission is to have him climb up the stairs of the Covent Garden tube station,sober. I don't anticipate any problems - I just hope he gets a valid tube ticket this time."

Thanks for that! The reality of this undertaking is hitting home. Yesterday I ran and walked around London for about 4hrs, probably covering about 35kms. I went through a few stages of the shakes, the sweats, the aches and lots other negative stuff. Running a half marathon in isolation is no joke. Imagine doing it every day for a month. Then add onto that poisonous snakes, rabid dogs, 100 degree heat, isolated roads and road signs in a different language, problems of food and water...the list goes on (and on).
Still, this was not meant to be easy. 27 days to go.

It sounds like you’ve been monitoring the progress of the training very closely indeed; very-impressive pub-crawling coverage. Have you been steeling beer mats and glasses on route? Perhaps you’ve been close enough to the training to join the run too (hip flask at your side, of course). Maybe you could do a parallel Stagger Across Kerala? Great entertainment value; I think we could get Zee TV interested; maybe even Bollywood movie rights. What do you say?

what a bloody good idea? stagger across kerala? perhaps we could get Kingfisher to sponsor us? Pete, i know this might not be your intention, but the hooch along the way could alter your plans a bit.
